Lowe scratched, Billingsley to start tonight!
XX Sports Radio has just confirmed that Derek Lowe will miss his start tonight from a stray baseball that hit his pitching hand in warmups last night.
Chad Billingsley will be pushed up to the hill tonight and the Friars will face David Wells tommorrow!
Great news as Lowe usually gives our hitters fits at Chavez Ravine!

My first impression is that this was a break for the Friars. The Padres generally seem to struggle against Lowe, who had a 1.43 ERA from 2004 - 2006 against the Friars. Then again, he had a 5.30 ERA in starts against SD in 2007. In 2007, Billingsly has a 0.92 ERA in three starts. Hopefully a combination of Bud Black's club being overdue and the game shift will bode well.
